 Way Points

I will be progressively introducing Way Points on the may.

The Way Points can appear any where I place them and they will be slowly introduced over time.
They are there for convenience but I don't want to make things way too fast and get things out of balance.

A way point is an object that looks like a pentagram, but it can be red, green or grey. If used in the pents they will not be the same colour as the pents in that area and they will always be lit.

If you activate a way point then the coords of the way point are added to your character.

If you use a way point scroll then it will take you to where ever your last way point was that you activated. Scroll are available from Gina.

Note 1 - You can only have one currently activated way point.
Note 2 - Using a way point scroll costs gold. The cost increases exponentially (almost) with rank from 1g for a Private to 125g for a Major and 600g for a Warlord.

Currently there are only two way points in the game (Grolm pents and Prospect Peak). More will be added over time. I want to reduce totally wasted time walking while not making things too easy.


By the way, and it probably goes without saying, if this is successful then i will claim all the credit. However if it is a disater then the finger will point firmly at Bloody who mentioned he had seen it somewhere else. That is after all only fair Twisted Evil

How bout similar to top of Aranock Tower,

its a Platform you step into, say the location name and it then causes your character Animation to Spin around 2-3 times and presto! at ur location!


Can even add a seperate 2-3hr cooldown to stop constant use!Very Happy

In Legends there was a portal where you could choose where you wanted to go from a list
You would say the name like "gargoyle pents" and you would be sent to that point
and did not cost you for doing it too

This takes away from the reward of being in a clan........clan scrolls. This would be better if it was available to clan members only which would also promote the use of clans. The way this is set up makes clans less useful/important/rewarding.

Maybe just add more clan scrolls?

I Agree with Redman on this one, wont this make there be even less reason to join a clan? I suggest that if this is done that some other type of reward be given for being in clans, perhaps a shop that sells different things that can only be bought with plat. Just a thought

I like Yat's idea of making a plat store for new things. I'm pretty sure most clans have all the carpet they need so there's really no point to plat right now. What I would like to see plat bought for is things like:

an hourly response gpot chest to go in your clan hall for like 25k plat
Other kinds of chests like armor for like 15k plat
a greenling duke spawner (one from u2 that spawns 3 guys) for like 5k plat

Just throwing those ideas out there, I don't know if that's the kind of stuff you were looking to get Yat, but I think those could be considered a greater bonus and more motivational to get people in to clans.

I'd be game for this being a clan only thing.
I am however not in a clan, and it seems like its extremely difficult to actually be in one.. I sort of wish the clans were implemented the way they were with the gorn and kwai halls - Those could be the clan halls as well.

But anyways, I'm all for more benefits being added to clans. Theres no clan action as it is. Theres no pvp in general - or so it seems. Anything to increase clan desirability is a plus in my opinion.

Maybe get rid of clan scrolls and make them all waypoints such as this. Give a waypoint skill to clan members that can be raised, so you need a certain base to use certain waypoints. I think that'd be cool too. Have to be in the clan hall to use the waypoints inside, instead of having scrolls outside of the halls. Im guilty of having clan scrolls given to me by clan members.

Just my 2 cents

Just saw Laughters ideas, those seem like a good idea also. Unique and beneficial.

Now, all I need is a clan :p

I once pitched an idea for a monthly clan war taking place in the combat arena which seems to have fallen into disuse fast Sad where the winning clan would have access to a special shop (merchant placed in ch) that sold things like drugs and spells scrolls for plat. I would still like to see that implimented at some point in the future.

PB is right.

The technology appears to work.
It is how people want it implemented. That is still open.

The initial question appears to be whether it is clan only.
If it is then the question will be raised on how to resolve the issue of clans not hiring.

I like the idea of Waypoints being for everybody, not just clans. Clans are about PVP and as far as i know you cant opt out of the PVP aspect of clans (i am sure somebody will correct me if i am wrong). I dislike PVP with the same passion as others who like it, if i could join a clan and not be expected to PVP or be looking over my shoulder all the time then i would join up. Aranock is for everybody, there should be bonuses for being in a clan, but not everything should revolve around the clans and there should be things that help out others who are not in clans.

I like the idea of testing waypoints with the whole population prior to switching over to a clan only feature. It will give the skua population a preview of the advantages of being in a clan and really help boost the clan population once it is switched to a clan only feature.

So... We should find a way to make clans more open to the general public, instead of the 'no-recruiting' status they all seem to have at the moment. Then add features, imo.

It's hard for leaders to want to recruit people they don't know and potentially be someone who could just come in and steal everything. As well, I don't see how you can dislike the pvp with Clan Halls on this game. You don't lose ANYTHING when you die, and no one is a jerk to grief you.

When i wrote my answer about Clans i was a little ignorant about what goes on in clans, i thought you could be attacked anywhere, now i have found out the reality of what you can and cant do it would seem i am overreacting a little, and i may even join a clan myself (If invited lol) But i still stand by what i said about waypoints being for everybody, not everything should be about clans and some things should be for everybody, just my opinion ofc Smile

I personally dont like pvp bit of clans I like walking round Aranock knowing I not got to watch my back. I know as staffer my main alt cant be in clan even if wanted to must say V3 version of clans I did like you fought for jewels in certain areas but then if you wanted to go around town you couyld not worrying about attack. I like the new system of the transportation points being for everyone not just clan people. Very Happy afro elephant

I noticed you end up paying twice for the waypoint scrolls. Once when you buy it from Gina, and once when you use it.

Yes - Gina is cheap and could almost go to zero.

The usage cost is rank based on the socialist theory that the rich (and experienced) should pay more because they can afford it.

Are the waypoint scrolls going to be moved to a clan only item?

Making them clan only scrolls would REALLY help to increase clan membership, which is what makes this server so unique.

If we make it clan only then we need to get clans to take more members instead of being closed shop bank vaults.

Maybe increasing clan rent based on character usage maybe the way to go. To keep your clan you need to have more members and member activity must be higher.

By the way, is anyone actually using the way points and have there been any issues with them?

There should be more clan spots if the ones that are currently in use are either dormant or not taking on new members. There are atleast 3 or 4 people that rejoined the game around the same time as me that would like to make a clan, we know and trust each other (Last time i was in a clan many moons ago i had stuff stolen from clan hall).
