My char name is cloun, and I was in a LQ the other day which in my opinion was way too hard for the players online. I appreciate LQ's whenever they do happen, as the imp takes their time of day to do it, but this one was just too hard for the reward given. I joined in when players were needing help as the highest online other than me was magen, and they were faced with armies of brig and magen elite skeles, magen prisoners, which quickly escalated to groups of prison sorc/thugs and noble ice gargs. Finishing off with warld Onyx gargs.

This LQ took about 1 1/2 hours to complete, multiple people died multiple times, including me. Many of the players online were bored out of their mind just standing there watching, while I attempted to clear mass areas of mobs, to no avail. Fortunately a couple other high rank players came on to help clear the icies but still we had not been able to kill many of the mobs left, without the imp's help.

At fdm, for an hour of time and 2 deaths, I received 150k xp, and a minor amount of luck. I don't expect to be given any more but if this is the way LQ's are going to be done in the future, I am afraid to participate because of the time devoted to end up gaining only 50k after lost xp / luck during LQ.

Yeah.. this LQ was pretty ridiculous, not to start issues as LQs take the imp's time as mentioned before, but this was honestly just poorly done. Spawning a ton of monsters is not a live quest, there was no plot, and all the monsters were noble and we had no nobles on... basically 90% of the people just stood around and did nothing, I think the lowest rank monster spawned was like a brig gen garg... The rewards don't really matter to me that much, but they should be fun at least.

Not trying to be overly critical, but we can do better than this...

Hard LQ's are not uncommon. It can go both ways.

I've seen and been involved with top rank LQ's and low rank LQ's. If you don't make it high enough, high ranks find it trivial and boring, and complaints follow. Other way around, low ranks get smashed and complain. The LQ can't suit everyone.

Yes, a imp went out of his way but all the lower ranked player were inconvenienced in a huge way. It was not fun for them. Try to see it from their side. Your being a little too blunt.

I wasn't on... but I can't see how anyone can be inconvenienced by an LQ? If u don't wanna fight LQ mobs, go pent or work on professions. The only way to die is to attack 1st. The XP reward probly seemed low because the kill xp was high. I for one think it's awfully convenient to find high level mobs near skua temple & I encourage unnamed imp 2 keep on bringin the pain.

A good LQ is very much an art form and although we do try, it isnt always possible to get the right balance for everyone online. An LQ will always have a challenging aspect to it, sometimes that involves puzzle solving, searching areas or participating in side quests, and other times it will involve fighting very strong npc's. At all times it should involve team work and harder mobs to kill try to encourage that. Players can pull together and play to their strengths and weaknesses and this may involve providing a supporting role in really difficult battles so that others can fight to the best of their ability and earn you the exp reward.

However an Imp will always want to try and give everyone online a chance to do do some killing and have that fun, and this is the reason why this topic is a good one because it has provided some welcome constructive feedback that the LQ makers can learn from Smile

lqs have never been worth it for me, unless i want luck

They are done to give players a change from PENTS.
If you do not want to join into the LQ then you do not have too
LQ's are not easy and it takes a lot of effort by the Imp to put one on
The whole idea is to band together and fight the mobs as a TEAM, the lower ranks can heal
then Spellers can make sure the stronger fighters have good spells
If you have a group of strong monsters then use your head try and separate them up
divide them to make it easier
Also if the LQ is made easy then what is the point of doing it
as then the Imp would get complaints about it too

i agree grim teamwork is the main aspect of LQ's not an easy reward for killing weak enemies...

Okay I'm going to step in for a moment.

Hi, ZarroTsu, old player of Aranock, commonly a bit of an jerk roughly 4 years ago, however now I run my own server with very poor population, BLAH BLAH BLAH.

I come here from afar, with the amazement that my account still EXISTS on this forum, to correct and point some things out for the support given by the jerks in this topic alone. I mean, if it's enough of a bad spirit to have me have to step in and take charge, something is seriously wrong.


FIRST OFF.

Yes, LQs are something taken out of the time by an imp or god to supply the players with an alternate to pents, or any other area wherein the players feel capable of attaining EXP. While I would go on to complain that there should be more than just pents as an option for players to grind at, or that pents shouldn't be the sole proprietor of exp in the game, that isn't the topic's mishap.

See, there are a few problems I'm seeing in this topic. And while I apologize for cursing, if the admin feel it's too extreme here, the posts in this topic alone are making me assume the majority of this place's population are jerks. There's no polite way of stating it.

Now then. From what I'm reading by the sounds of the original post, the LQ presented far, far too powerful enemies for the players online. And a majority of you who think that's alright, neglected to read the part that said "All the people were BORED and just SAT AND WATCHED"

Lemme break it down for ALL of you.

LQ monsters, assuming they're spawned under the constant "LOL GROUP OF 24 IN ONE SPOT" rule of old, can indeed block off locations that players might NEED TO GET TO. Such as specific buildings containing quest givers, or shops where they might need to go to attain a new armor set, weapons, or magic items. And while many of you are egotistical jerks unaware of how the game works when your rank is below staff sergeant, not everyone WANTS to participate in an LQ. Free experience by reward or not, sometimes the player has things they would RATHER do than kill the same monsters in the same spots again. And if the monsters are end-game levels, and the player is Corporal, and HAPPENS to need inside the building that the wall of overpowered is blocking, then something is wrong. "TOUGH Tea and biscuits" isn't an answer.

And while yes, it is a part of the imp's OH SO MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET'S TIME to host the LQ, it is ALSO the PLAYER'S TIME in playing the game.

Let me ask you, which is more important? The admin who run the game? Or the players who PLAY the game?

And, while it isn't easy for the IMP to host an LQ that caters to 'everyone', they can at least put forth an effort to host an LQ that caters to THE PEOPLE ONLINE AT THE TIME.

There is teamwork, and then there's expecting the low-level players to mingle with the high-level players. And this is impossible, no matter what the game is. I understand you want to present a challenge to all players in the game at the same time, but halting every function the game has to offer to low-level players so that the high-level players can kill things is far from the answer.

There are many, many ways you can cater to everyone in a singular event; however throwing end-game monsters at players too weak to kill them is not the answer. Having the players have to wait for stronger players to enter the game to 'win' isn't the answer either. The person in charge could have done their job far, far better in presenting a challenging and/or FUN LQ rather than an impossible and BORING quest as stated here.

Now excuse my browsing, but if I still played on this server, and were there at the time to be involved in the LQ, I would much rather no LQ than a boring and ultimately abysmally done LQ hosted knowingly by some lazy jerk who has himself a wall of kiss-ass jerks who think Captains can kill Warlords on a whim, no matter how the player builds them.

As a footnote, in fact, the reactions in this topic alone make me glad I'm NOT playing Aranock. Thank you, my stupid, stupid posters above, for keeping me AWAY from this community.

It's not like I've never taken part in an Aranock LQ before, and it's not like I don't presently play a V2 server. Past knowledge, combined with the present knowledge of many aspects of the game's functions, lets me understand where the topic starter is coming from.

This is a thread about one persons negative feedback from a single LQ.The feedback is respected and will of course be taken into account for future events. There are currently three LQ providers and to my knowledge to date 98% of all LQ's delivered within the last year have been of a satisfactory standard with some even going above and beyond the call of duty by putting in real thought and extreme effort in to their designs. To use knowledge from what i know from my own LQ's, I have utilised built puzzles, traps and uniquely built areas that have taken days to design and prepare. I hardly think that this topic is worth the attention its getting at the moment and its annoying that it reflects incorrectly upon our staff capabilities and upon our player base most of whom are frendly and are not 'jerks'.
There is always some learning to do expecially for staff taking up new roles upon promotion as was the case here. Staff are trained well but rely heavily upon learning from experience and feedback from players to improve their events as most of them have never played in the glory days of old v2 like some of us here, and any other remaining v2 clone does not have enough players to host a respectable LQ and there for they cannot be used for standard setting or for inspiration and their staff are likely to be highly de-trained due to lack of practice. Again i'd like to re-itterate that this was a single event from which a single player has expressed dissatisfaction.


We are currently accepting staffer applications from anyone convinced they can make a notable difference.
